Children's Miracle Network

Do You Want to Help Raise Money For a Children’s Hospital?
Here are some great ideas to raise money to help sick and injured children receive the medical care, equipment, and research they need to get better!

Baby Pool – Is someone you know or in your office expecting a child? Why not have a baby pool, have participants guess the date of birth and sex of the baby. Set a dollar amount per guess, the person closest to the date of birth wins half the money, the other half goes to the Children’s Hospital of your choice.

Change Wars - Provide a prize for whichever department or group collects the most change. Create fun by subtracting funds from another department by placing pennies in other teams’ buckets. (Silver adds up and pennies deduct.)

Rock Star Parking – Do you have a reserved parking stall? Why not donate your parking stall for a month or year and auction it to your co-workers! Place a bid sheet in a common area, set a cut of time for bids and the highest bidder wins the parking stall for the allotted time!

Counting on You - Fill a large container with jellybeans, Smarties, M&Ms, or any other small items. Advertise the grand prize and have office affiliates/clients guess (for a set donation) how many are in the container.

Holiday Wrap - Contact a local mall or shopping center for permission to wrap holiday presents for a donation, or offer a special gift-wrap service at your office.

Media Exchange - Have employees donate old books, magazines, CDs, videos or DVDs and host a resale event.

Do you have your own fundraising idea? Why not spread the word. Contact Marie Sheppy at msheppy@remax.net with the details.

Every dollar raised makes a difference!

2009 New Member Matching Gift Program - Made possible by Sandy So and Patsy Hui

The 2009 New Member Matching Gift Program
The 2009 Matching Gift Program has been made possible through the generosity of two longtime Children’s Circle of Care members, RE/MAX Agents, Sandy So and Patsy Hui. Their total gift of $500,000 will allow new Children’s Circle of Care members an extraordinary opportunity to make an even greater impact with their first gift of $10,000 or more.

The Campaign for BC Children
The $200-million Campaign for BC Children will transform the delivery of medical care to children in BC. The campaign will support:
• the construction of a new Children’s Hospital
• the relocation of Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children, the province’s childhood rehabilitation and development services, to the current site
• expansion of the Child & Family Research Institute and
• Child Health BC--improved delivery of care to children across the province through working with regional partners throughout the province.

Children’s Circle of Care
The Children’s Circle of Care recognizes and honours individuals, privately-held corporations and family foundations making an annual gift of $10,000 or more to advance pediatric care, research and education. The Children’s Circle of Care is comprised of prominent benefactors from 24 leading children’s hospitals throughout North America. It seeks to educate donors about child health issues and recognize them for their unique contributions to the mission and service of children’s hospitals.

In addition to being part of our annual celebration of local supporters, members are invited to the annual North American Children’s Circle of Care Leadership Conference and Gala, which will be held in Atlanta Georgia from May 12 – 14, 2010.

Doubling Your Impact
Each donor who makes a first time gift of $10,000 or more between now and the end of 2009 will have the opportunity to have their donation matched until the Sandy So and Patsy Hui Matching Gift Fund has been depleted.

By participating in the Matching Gift Program, your $10,000 gift will help us leverage $10,000 from Sandy and Patsy, thereby doubling the impact of your gift to the Campaign for BC Children. You will also be recognized as a $20,000 donor. Once your cumulative giving to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation reaches $25,000, you will be listed on the Foundation’s Millennium donor wall.

RE/MAX Offices in Nanaimo Create a Miracle City for the Children’s Miracle Network
RE/MAX Sales Associates in Nanaimo have banded together for a worthy cause and have become a ‘Miracle City’ in Western Canada. To earn this title, 100% of the Sales Associates, nearly 100 in total, have pledged to donate on behalf of each property bought and sold to the Children’s Miracle Network and its affiliated hospital, the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“We are lucky to have such supportive and dedicated Sales Associates in our two offices to the Children’s Miracle Network”, said Mike Heinrich, Broker Owner, RE/MAX of Nanaimo. “It is because of each person’s commitment to the cause that we were able to contribute over $32,000 to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation in 2008. Many of us have been touched by a sick child. Nothing feels better than to contribute to an organization that helps so many sick and injured children and their families.”

Help Raise Money for Sick and Injured Children by Pledging Tom Fulton’s Weight Loss Initiative!

Tom Fulton, Broker Owner, RE/MAX Performance Realty, Winnipeg, MB has committed to losing a minimum of 50lbs by June 6, 2010.  He will be weighed on Wednesday June 10th at the Broker Owner & Manager Retreat in Kelowna to establish his starting weight. He will be weighed on June 6th, 2010 at the Broker Owner Manager Retreat to see if he has obtained his pledge.  Here’s how it works, if he does not meet his goal he will make a donation matching the amount of pledges received and you will not be required to pay your pledge amount.

"Firstly let me thank all of you for supporting me in my quest to shed more than a few pounds and raise money for your Children’s Hospitals. Currently pledges sit at approximately $3500 and hopefully that will go up.

It is now one month from the time my Challenge started and I am pleased to report that I am down 15 lbs. I realize that this is the easy part and the rest of the journey is going to require even more diligence. But I am quite pleased with my progress. I thought I was going to need the monetary motivation to do this but just standing up there in front of you and announcing my intentions may be enough by itself. The idea of standing in front of you next year and announcing that I have failed, is not an option.

The speaker, from 1-800-GOT JUNK, said “If you have a goal, share it with everyone and they will conspire to make it happen”. I think he is right. "

WE THINK HE'S RIGHT TOO TOM! GOOD LUCK!

Quest For Excellence

RE/MAX of Western Canada would like to thank all applicants for their submissions and wish each and every one of them continued success in their own Quest for Excellence®.

Here’s what one recipient had to say:

“Thank you so much for the RE/MAX Quest for Excellence scholarship. Your selection means a great deal to me.
I will be attending the University of British Columbia - Vancouver this fall in the Bachelor of Arts program, on a partial golf scholarship. As shown in the essay I submitted, I have quite a passion for golf, and am very excited about the opportunities that await me in my upcoming years at UBC. Being chosen as a winner of an essay competition is especially meaningful to me as I am planning to major in English, and am hoping that my passion for writing will eventually lead to a future in this domain.
I would recommend the Quest for Excellence scholarship to many down the line, as I believe that the opportunity you are providing to young students is wonderful.
Thank you again,
Haley Cameron, Kelowna BC”
