They quickly became involved in many activities and charities in their area including the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Blind Bay Bunch, Shuswap Estates Community Association, Salmon Arm curling and Shuswap Lake Estates golf. In 2012 Paul was elected as the Area C Director for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, where he served for 3 terms until 2022.
