Owen Bay is located on the south side of Sonora Island on Okisolo Channel, just above Hole in the Wall. Owen Bay has a long history, at one point it was a thriving coastal community of about 1200 people & home to a school, general store. It has now evolved into a quiet, coastal vacation & recreation community with a small complement of full-time residents. There are government dock facilities located in the bay. This 5 acre oceanfront property offers approx. 300ft of very well protected, deep water frontage which is south-facing. The frontage is low to medium bank. The offer also includes a 1/4 interest in 18.4 acres of common property which backs this & three neighbouring acreages. The property has a gradual incline towards the back & is beautifully forested with mature conifers - a nice mix of fir, cedar & hemlock. There are some modest improvements on the property, including a little dock & a well-constructed deck/tent platform which currently has a portable shelter on it. The platform is a practical & very functional space to utilize. This rural property does not have services, however there are creeks which run through the upper common portion of the property & down through the lower acreages. These could be utilized as a source of fresh water. Located within the heart of the Discovery Island group you are surrounded with beautiful natural scenery & an abundance of wildlife. The Sonora Island area offers all types of outdoor recreation & sport activities - fishing, boating, diving, & wildlife viewing, & the availability of seafood such as crab, prawns, clams & oysters are all within minutes of this region. Access to the property is by boat or float plane only. Traveling to the property by boat takes a little less than 1 hour from Campbell River & approx. 40 minutes from Heriot Bay on Quadra Island. Both locations provide services & amenities. During the summer months there is regular scheduled water taxi service to & from Campbell River.
