Beautiful waterfront heritage country home Keech House, or Willow Farm as the locals call it, was built in 1796. Half an hour away from Moncton airport and 14 hour drive from downtown Toronto, this property sits on 25 acres of pastureland on the Memramcook River, Sheppody Bay. The home is incredibly solid. It is structurally sound (was assessed by an engineer) and the solid stone foundation was recently waterproofed and insulated (2014). The well water is delicious, plentiful and is free of any contaminants. The well has never run dry. 3 bedrooms. Heritage, solid oak kitchen (2001) with gas range One full bath Electric baseboard (2014) + woodstove (2014) 200 amp service Brand new well pump (2014), septic (2014), wiring (2014) New plumbing (2014) There is a large insulated, wired barn with propane heat (built in the late 90s and insulated and wired in the early 2000s). The main house needs a new roof (was quoted at $7500 for a lifetime warranty steel roof). Over the next two decades, we suggest a slow and steady restoration of some of the bricks. The house is solid now, but re-pointing the bricks in the next decade will ensure that it stays standing for another 200 years. Stone homes require less constant maintenance (compared with painted wooden siding) and are better insulated and appropriate for the Maritime climate. We are happy to share information on local contractors, quotes we received and information on the work we have done to the home since we bought it. (id:153)
