The character of Bayview is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This part of the city is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be quite peaceful - however noise can be problematic near the railway line or Highway 403. Lastly, there are a few parks nearby for residents to check out, which makes them easy to get to.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is especially car friendly. It is a rather short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 403, from anywhere in Bayview, and it is very easy to park. On the other hand, Bayview is not an especially pleasant part of Burlington for travelling by public transit. Nevertheless, property owners are served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically very close. Bayview is not very convenient for walking as very few daily errands can be run without the use of a car. This neighbourhood is also not very conducive to cycling as the bicycling network is rather limited, and there is a significant amount of elevation changes.

Housing

Large apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing roughly 40% of dwellings in Bayview, whereas the remainder are mainly single detached homes and townhouses. This part of the city also has a good variety of unit sizes - homes range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy around 55% of the dwellings in Bayview while the remainder are rented. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has taken place following the year 2000.

Services

High schools and primary schools are not especially numerous in Bayview, and therefore not always within walking distance. In addition, it can be difficult to reach daycares on foot. As far as eating is concerned, some, but not all, house buyers in Bayview will live within walking distance of the nearest supermarket. A limited number of restaurants and cafes are available as well.
