People who prefer a slower-paced ambience will enjoy Callaghan. This area is very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Lastly, getting to green spaces in the neighbourhood, such as Blackmud Creek Park, is easy since there are a few of them close by for residents to enjoy.


This part of the city is especially car friendly. It is very easy to park. However, the public transit service in this area is fairly poor. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is usually just around the corner. It is convenient to commute by bicycle in this neighbourhood since the topography is reasonably flat, and there are a very large number of bike lanes. Travelling on foot is not very practical for residents in Callaghan as very few common errands can be run without having to use a vehicle.


Callaghan experienced its biggest construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period. The housing stock of this part of Edmonton is composed predominantly of single detached homes and townhouses. Homeowners occupy roughly 80% of the units in Callaghan and 20% are rented. This neighbourhood offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.


Parents and their children will appreciate that no matter where their home is located in Callaghan, primary schools are close by. On the other hand, this area does not have any high schools. As far as eating is concerned, buying one's groceries often necessitates the use of a vehicle in this part of Edmonton. Nonetheless, pharmacies are generally very easy to reach on foot and sell some basic food items.
