Capilano is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. This area is quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite loud, especially near Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, there are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to visit, which results in them being very easy to access from most locations in the neighbourhood.


Capilano is very car friendly. Parking is generally easy, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from anywhere in Capilano. In contrast, commuting by public transit is challenging in this part of the municipality. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and it is straightforward to find a nearby bus stop from most residences. It is challenging to move around by bicycle in Capilano since the cycling network is not very extensive, and there is a considerable amount of hills. Thankfully, some bike-friendly sectors can be found. It is also occasionally challenging for pedestrians to get around in Capilano as running day-to-day errands is at times difficult.


Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing roughly 60% of buildings in Capilano, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. Roughly 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 2000s. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented.


In Capilano, parents and their children will often be able to reach daycares and primary schools by walking. On the other hand, this part of the municipality does not have any high schools. In terms of food, it is frequently possible for house buyers in this neighbourhood to do their groceries by walking. A small number of restaurants can be found in Capilano as well.
