The character of Central Lonsdale is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. Most areas in this neighbourhood are quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case near Trans-Canada Highway. Finally, parks are very easy to access since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to check out.


This part of North Vancouver will attract physically active people since it is reasonably well-suited for those who travel by foot; many common errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle. In contrast, cycling is difficult in Central Lonsdale since there are quite a few hills. Nevertheless, there are a fair number of bike lanes, and a few pleasant pockets for bicycling exist. The best method to get around in Central Lonsdale is often driving. Finding a place to park is easy, and most real estate listings are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. In contrast, this neighbourhood is not an especially pleasant part of North Vancouver for moving around by public transit. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is typically very close.


Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing around half of dwellings in Central Lonsdale, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. The population residing in this neighbourhood is evenly split between owners and renters. About one third of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.


Daycares and schools are straightforward to walk to from any location in Central Lonsdale. As far as food is concerned, it is very easy to get to both a general and a specialty grocery store by walking from any home in this area. Moreover, there is commonly a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. A decent selection of clothing stores can also be found within a reasonably short walking distance.
