Downtown is a great area for those who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Finding energetic streets in this neighbourhood is very easy. Numerous entertainment venues can be found nearby, there are very often crowds of people around, and with its over 100 bars, there are options for nighttime activities. Robson Street is among the most active streets in this neighbourhood. There are around 20 green spaces close by for residents to check out, resulting in them being very easy to access from a large number of locations in this area.


Homeowners in Downtown have several choices to move around without using a car. It is very easy for pedestrians to move around in this area; running day-to-day errands is very convenient, and countless businesses of different types can be found as well. The bike is a fairly good means of transportation in Downtown because the cycling network is very extensive. Thanks to plenty of nearby rapid transit stations on the Canada Line and Expo Line, and around 40 nearby bus lines, the excellent public transit infrastructure makes transit a viable option for many. On the other hand, cars are a rather poor transportation option in this neighbourhood because nearby highways are not very easy to reach from anywhere in this part of the city, and the street layout is not very conducive to driving.


The vast majority of dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Downtown, and the rest of the homes are mainly small apartment buildings. This area experienced its biggest building boom after the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this era. This part of the city offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even.


Both general and specialty grocery stores are typically accessible within a very short walk from any home in Downtown. Moreover, with over 900 restaurants and over 150 cafes, this neighbourhood is a great area in which to go out to eat. House buyers have access to a very large number of clothing stores within walking distance, for example along Robson Street. In terms of education, in Downtown, parents and their kids will generally be able to get to daycares and schools on foot. Along with public schools, there are private elementary schools.
