This neighbourhood is good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as the streets are generally calm - however some parts can be quite loud, especially near one of the railway lines. Transportation

Downtown is a fairly pleasant part of Guelph for pedestrians; many common errands can be run on foot. Driving is very often the best way to move around in Downtown. It is a reasonably short car ride to the nearest highway from any home in this part of the city, and it is convenient to park. On the other hand, the public transit service in Downtown is not especially frequent. Nevertheless, house owners can count on the Guelph Central Station on the Kitchener Line. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood happened before the 1960s.

Families will appreciate the proximity to schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from the majority of houses for sale in Downtown. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools. In terms of eating, a grocery store is usually reachable within a rather short walk from anywhere in this area. There are approximately 10 groceries in this part of the city, and the best selection can be found on streets like Wyndham Street. Moreover, Downtown is a good place in which to go out to eat, and property owners benefit from around 10 cafes as well. It is also a rather short walk to a decent selection of clothing stores.
