There is a wide selection of green spaces in East Richmond. Public green spaces are easy to access, since there are about 20 of them close by for residents to relax in and the majority of houses have a park within walking distance. Lastly, it is relatively calm in this neighbourhood, as there are very few people out and about on the streets.


Moving around by car is very convenient in East Richmond. The majority of properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 91, and it is especially convenient to find a place to park. On the other hand, residents using public transit may have few options in this part of the city due to the service's low frequency. Nonetheless, there are approximately 10 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is typically relatively close by. East Richmond is not very conducive to cycling as this area has a quite poor bicycling infrastructure, and bicycling is rendered difficult by the often steep terrain. This area is also not very suitable for walking because most daily needs are inconvenient to carry out without the use of a car.


In East Richmond, most buildings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood has a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 30% are renters. Around one third of properties in this part of the city were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.


A portion of property owners in this neighbourhood may have the option to shop for groceries by walking, while others will need another means of transportation. Residents are served by approximately 10 restaurants and cafes as well. As far as education is concerned, families may find it challenging to get to high schools and primary schools on foot. Likewise, daycares are not numerous and accordingly not always within walking distance.
