There is an extensive selection of green spaces in East Richmond. There are around 20 parks nearby for residents to check out, making it easy to access them from a large number of locations in the neighbourhood. As there are very few people out and about on the streets, this area remains relatively serene.
The favoured method to move around in East Richmond is very often driving. The majority of real estate listings are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 91, and it is very easy to access a place to park. However, travelling by transit can be challenging in this part of Richmond as a result of the infrequent service. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by around 10 bus lines, and it is easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most houses. East Richmond is not very suitable for those who travel by foot since carrying out daily needs is challenging. East Richmond is also not very conducive to cycling since there is a considerable amount of hills, and there are very few bike lanes.
Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around 55% of buildings in East Richmond, and the remaining houses are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. This part of the city has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas renters make up the remainder. Roughly one third of properties in this area were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
High schools and primary schools are not very numerous in this neighbourhood, and accordingly tend to require a rather long walk to get to. Likewise, it can be very difficult to walk to daycares from homes for sale in this area. Additionally, this area is served by some of the province's top schools, including Richmond Christian School. Regarding eating, some, but not all, house buyers in East Richmond will live within walking distance of the closest grocery store. A small number of restaurants and cafes can be found as well.
