Island View is reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several louder areas, especially closer to the railway line. Accessing parks is rather difficult in the neighbourhood since they aren't well-located. Despite that, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to relax in.

Transportation

This area is an extraordinarily good part of Saint John for moving around by car. Coming across a parking spot is generally easy, and it is a short drive to the closest highway from any location in Island View. Walking is not very feasible for residents in this part of the city as almost no common errands can be run without having to use a car.

Housing

About one quarter of homes in Island View were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing the majority of dwellings in this area, while small apartment buildings and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. About 70% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented. This part of Saint John offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is required in this neighbourhood to reach the nearest supermarket. There are also a few restaurants in Island View. Regarding education, there are only a few primary schools in this part of Saint John and therefore they can be a long walk away. Moreover, Island View does not contain any high schools. Likewise, daycares are not especially plentiful and accordingly tend to require an extended walk to get to.
