Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Lower West Lynn. There are approximately 10 parks nearby for residents to explore, which makes them very easy to get to. This area is also quiet, as the streets tend to be quite calm - although that is not the case near Trans-Canada Highway.
Lower West Lynn is especially car friendly. It is very easy to park, and many houses for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. In contrast, travelling by public transit is occasionally challenging in Lower West Lynn. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are commonly nearby. This neighbourhood is not very cycling-friendly because there are very few bike lanes, and riding is rendered arduous by the typically sloping topography. Lower West Lynn is also not very well-suited for those who travel by foot as very few day-to-day needs can be met by walking.
The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Lower West Lynn is an important part of its character. The buildings in this area are quite old, since roughly half of its buildings were built pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s. This area offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas renters make up the remainder.
A car is often needed in this area to reach the closest grocery store. As far as education is concerned, it is a rather short walk to get to primary schools and daycares from any location in this part of the municipality. However, there are no high schools in this part of District of North Vancouver.
