Northgate is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed ambience. This area is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Northgate will draw physically active people as it is convenient for those who travel by foot, although carrying out daily needs is occasionally difficult by walking. Moving around by bicycle is also convenient in this part of the city because this neighbourhood has an excellent cycling infrastructure. Northgate is not especially transit friendly. Thankfully, there are about 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and it is very convenient to get to a nearby bus stop from most houses. Roughly 90% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 10% are rented. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood happened in the 1960s and 1970s.
House buyers in Northgate will appreciate that a grocery store is always only a short walk away. Likewise, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner. It is also a rather short distance to a decent variety of clothing stores. Concerning education, families will find that wherever their house is located in this part of the city, daycares and schools are close by. Residents are served by public and private secondary schools.
