Driving is a great transportation option in this neighbourhood. It is very easy to come across a place to park, and most properties for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway. In contrast, the public transit service in Oakmont is not very frequent. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far from most properties. Oakmont is not very suitable for those who travel by foot because meeting daily needs is impractical by walking.
Nearly 95% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 5% are rented. Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in this part of St. Albert. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood happened in the 1990s. This part of the city offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
There are no high schools and no primary schools in Oakmont. In addition, there are only a very small number of daycares and accordingly they can be a very long walk away. Regarding eating, in most cases, a vehicle is required to do groceries. There are a few restaurants and cafes in this part of the city.
