This part of the town is reasonably good for those who need quiet surroundings, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case near the railway line. Lastly, there are a few green spaces close by for residents to check out, which makes it very easy to get to them.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is convenient for those who travel by foot; running day-to-day errands is easy. On the other hand, it is difficult to get around by bicycle in Observatory since there are a fair number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave, and there are few bike lanes. Driving is usually the favoured approach to navigate Observatory. It is convenient to find a parking spot. In contrast, Observatory is not an especially pleasant part of Richmond Hill for travelling by public transit. Nonetheless, there are about 10 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and most houses are very close to a bus stop.

Housing

In Observatory, about 45% of buildings are large apartment buildings, while single detached homes and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of the town has a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Families will find that no matter where their home is located in this neighbourhood, schools and daycares are close by. Parents have the choice between public and private primary schools. With respect to food, a supermarket is ordinarily reachable within a rather short walk from any home in Observatory. In addition, Observatory is a good place in which to go out to eat, and a small variety of coffee shops can be found as well. It is also a rather short distance to a decent choice of clothing stores.
