Ocean Westway is an extremely good part of Saint John for getting around by car. It is especially convenient to park, and most real estate listings are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway. It is very impractical for pedestrians to move around in Ocean Westway since almost no common errands can be run without having to use a vehicle.
The predominant housing types in Ocean Westway are single detached homes and townhouses. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 85% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while renters occupy the remainder. Roughly 40% of homes in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960.
It is very rarely possible for house buyers in this part of the city to do their grocery shopping by walking. As far as education is concerned, Ocean Westway does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Furthermore, daycares are not plentiful and thus tend to require a very long walk to get to.
