Oleskiw offers a calm environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. It is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood, since there are a few of them close by for residents to discover and most houses for sale have a park a short walk away. This area is also excellent for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.


This part of Edmonton is especially car friendly. It is very convenient to come across a parking spot, and it is a rather short drive to the nearest highway from any home in Oleskiw. However, the public transit service in Oleskiw is not very frequent. Nonetheless, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. It is inconvenient for pedestrians to move around in Oleskiw as many day-to-day needs are difficult to meet without having to resort to a car. On the other hand, this part of Edmonton is quite appropriate for bicycling since the cycling infrastructure is good, and the area is mainly flat.


Nearly 90% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Roughly half of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed between 1980 and 1990, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.


Oleskiw does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, it can be difficult to access daycares on foot. In terms of eating, it is often possible for home buyers in Oleskiw to buy groceries by walking. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well.
