Oliver is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of the city. Finding vibrant areas in this area is easy. Even though there are few nearby entertainment venues, there are usually a very large number of people around, and places to go out at night are well-distributed throughout the neighbourhood. Jasper Avenue Northwest is among the most active streets in this part of Edmonton. Oliver is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be quite peaceful. The majority of locations in the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to parks, including Victoria Park and Groat Ravine, since getting to one is very easy from a lot of homes and there are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in.


Oliver does not require use of a car since various other means of transportation are available. With Grandin Station with access to the Metro Line and Capital Line, and around 10 nearby bus lines, Oliver is reasonably transit friendly. It is also straightforward for people travelling on foot to get around in this neighbourhood; many daily needs are easy to carry out on foot, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Bicycling is convenient in Oliver because the cycling network is very extensive, and the terrain is generally flat.


Roughly 70% of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home whereas the rest are owners. Around 60% of buildings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in this part of the city, while small apartment buildings are the main alternative in the housing stock. About half of properties in this part of Edmonton were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood is particularly good for those looking for one bedroom homes.


It is usually practical for home buyers in this area to do groceries on foot. Likewise, there are over 50 restaurants and a few cafes to benefit from in Oliver. It is also a reasonably short walk to a good variety of clothing stores. With respect to education, families will welcome the proximity to daycares and schools, which are within walking distance from vast majority homes for sale in this area.
