The preferred approach to move around in Qualicum Beach is usually driving. In contrast, commuting by public transit is very difficult in Qualicum Beach. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the town, and the closest bus stop is usually relatively close by. This town is not very conducive to walking since most daily needs are impractical to carry out on foot.

The sizeable percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this part of the Greater Parksville metropolitan area is an important part of its character.
