West Vancouver real estate guide & listings for sale

The character of West Vancouver is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. There are over 250 green spaces close by for residents to check out, which makes them easy to get to. This part of the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area is also fairly good for those who prefer quiet surroundings, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several noisier sections, especially closer to Trans-Canada Highway, Highway 99 or the railway line.

The preferred transportation option in West Vancouver is very often a car. Parking is generally easy, and many real estate listings are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 99. On the other hand, this municipality is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are approximately 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. It is very hard to get around by bike in West Vancouver as there is a significant amount of elevation changes, and the bicycling infrastructure is quite poor. A majority of the houses for sale in this municipality are located in places that are also not very conducive to walking as very few daily errands can be run on foot.

In West Vancouver, most dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings are the main alternative in the housing stock. Around one third of homes in this municipality were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This municipality has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly three quarters of the population of this municipality own their home while renters make up the remainder.

Reaching one of about 20 supermarkets on foot is feasible for some, but not all, house buyers in West Vancouver. A small selection of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well. In terms of education, in West Vancouver, families will commonly be able to reach primary schools on foot. On the other hand, families may consider it difficult to access high schools as a pedestrian. Along with public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools.
