Rural Markham is reasonably good for those who like quiet areas, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around Highway 407 or one of the railway lines. Parks are spread out sporadically, making it rather challenging to get to them. Still, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.
Driving is a great transportation option in Rural Markham. It is very easy to access a parking spot. In contrast, this neighbourhood is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood. It is very challenging for pedestrians to navigate Rural Markham because running daily errands is very impractical on foot. Biking is also difficult in this area as there is a significant amount of hills, and there are very few bike lanes.
Homeowners occupy about 85% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and 15% are rented. The predominant housing types in this area are single detached homes and townhouses. This neighbourhood experienced its largest construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
A car is almost always required in this part of the city to reach the closest supermarket. As far as education is concerned, there are only a few primary schools in Rural Markham and accordingly they can be an extended walk away. Moreover, this neighbourhood does not contain any high schools. Likewise, parents may find it very difficult for their children to reach daycares as a pedestrian.
