Shipyard is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. This area is very quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Finally, most locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to green spaces, such as Rotary Park, since there are a few of them close by for residents to visit.


Travelling by car is very convenient in Shipyard. It is very easy to come across a place to park, and the majority of real estate listings are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway. Shipyard is not particularly well-suited for those who travel by foot as running daily errands is inconvenient.


Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around 45% of dwellings in Shipyard, and the remaining properties are mainly small apartment buildings. This neighbourhood experienced its largest building boom pre-1960, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period. Families will welcome that wherever their home is located in this area, primary schools are close by. On the other hand, Shipyard does not have any high schools. In terms of eating, the closest grocery store in Shipyard is usually only a rather short walk away. There are also a limited number of options for those who care about nearby restaurants.
