There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in South Central, despite its sometimes busy ambience. There are a few green spaces nearby for residents to check out and they are especially well-spread out, which results in them being easy to reach from many locations in this neighbourhood. This part of Peterborough is relatively quiet, due to the presence of few pedestrians; however those who are around the railway line may experience higher levels of noise.
This neighbourhood is very car friendly. It is convenient to park. This area will also appeal to active people as it is quite well-suited for those who travel by foot; many common errands can be run without the use of a car.
Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing about one third of buildings in South Central, whereas the rest are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood happened prior to the 1960s. This part of the city offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home while owners make up the remainder.
The nearest supermarket in South Central is typically only a short walk away. Additionally, there are a fair number of choices for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes. House buyers benefit from a good number of nearby clothing stores. In terms of education, it is a rather short walk to access primary schools and daycares from anywhere in this part of the city. However, there are no high schools in South Central.
