St. John's real estate guide & listings for sale

Most areas in St. John's are quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around Trans-Canada Highway, Highway 2 or the airport (YYT).

St. John's is very car friendly. Many houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans Canada Highway, and parking is quite easy. In contrast, public transit users may find limited choices in St. John's due to the service's low frequency. Thankfully, there are about 20 bus lines crossing the city, and the closest bus stop is generally close by. St. John's is not very convenient for walking since very few common errands can be run on foot.

In St. John's, around 45% of buildings are single detached homes, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. Roughly 30% of properties in this city were built between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This city has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly 60% of the dwellings in the city are occupied by homeowners and 40% are rented.

Parents may consider it challenging for their schoolchildren to access high schools and primary schools as pedestrians. In addition, it can be challenging to get to daycares on foot. When it comes to eating, accessing one of over 50 grocery stores by walking is an option for some, but not all, house buyers in St. John's. A limited selection of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.
