Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Uptown. There are a few public green spaces close by for residents to unwind in and they are especially well-spread out, which makes them easy to get to. Finally, numerous sections of this neighbourhood are very serene and quiet, but some other areas can be noisy, especially near Highway 403.
Regardless of the mode of transportation, it is quite easy to travel in Uptown. This neighbourhood benefits from a reasonably good public transit infrastructure due to approximately 10 nearby bus lines. It is also convenient for people travelling on foot to navigate Uptown; many daily needs can be carried out on foot. Although certain bike-friendly sectors can be found, and there are a fair number of bike lanes, it is occasionally challenging to get around by bicycle in Uptown because there is a considerable amount of slopes.
In Uptown, the vast majority of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Around one third of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed between 1990 and 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 2000s. This area is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood and the rest are rented.
Property owners in Uptown will welcome that a grocery store is always only a very short walk away. Likewise, there is commonly a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. It is also a rather short distance to a good choice of clothing stores. In terms of education, both primary and secondary schools are straightforward to access on foot from any location in this part of the city. However, there are only a limited number of daycares and thus they can be a rather long walk away.
