West End is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. Public green spaces are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them close by for residents to enjoy, which makes them easy to reach. This area is quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic.

Transportation

Cars are a great mode of transportation in this area. Many houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, and it is very easy to park. In contrast, travelling by transit can be challenging in West End by reason of the service's low frequency. Nevertheless, property owners benefit from approximately 10 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally just around the corner. West End is not very suitable for walking because few daily needs can be carried out on foot.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 40% of dwellings in West End, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. This area has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and renters occupy the remainder. Roughly 40% of properties in this part of the city were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 2000s.

Services

A car is often needed in West End to access the closest supermarket. Nevertheless, pharmacies are generally easy to reach on foot and sell some staple foods. A restaurant is often just around the corner, and there are also a few coffee shops in this neighbourhood. As far as education is concerned, families will appreciate the proximity to both primary and secondary schools, which are within walking distance from the majority of houses for sale in West End. However, it can be difficult to get to daycares on foot.
