West End is very good for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.
This neighbourhood is a very good part of Thunder Bay for travelling by car. Most properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, and parking is easy. However, this part of Thunder Bay is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally nearby. West End is not especially conducive to those who travel by foot since running common errands is sometimes difficult by walking.
A majority of the housing growth in West End took place prior to the 1960s. The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this part of Thunder Bay is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy roughly three quarters of the properties in the neighbourhood while the rest are rented. This part of Thunder Bay also has a good variety of unit sizes; it is quite easy to find houses ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
Both primary and secondary schools are convenient to get to on foot from anywhere in this area. However, parents and their kids may consider it challenging to reach daycares on foot. Concerning eating, the closest supermarket in West End is typically only a rather short walk away. There are also a limited number of choices for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity.
