Most areas in this neighbourhood are reasonably quiet, as the streets tend to be peaceful - however some parts can be quite loud, especially near Highway 85.

Transportation

Driving is usually the preferred method to navigate Willowdale. It is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 85, from any home in Willowdale, and parking is generally easy. On the other hand, commuting by transit can be challenging in this neighbourhood as a result of the low service level. Nonetheless, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually very close. Travelling by foot is not very popular in Willowdale, although many common errands can be run without needing to resort to a vehicle. Even though some pleasant sectors for bicycling exist, the bicycle is a somewhat poor method of transportation in this part of Waterloo as there are a limited number of bike lanes, and riding is made difficult by the often hilly terrain.

Housing

Roughly 55% of the properties in Willowdale were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. In this neighbourhood, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. The closest supermarket in Willowdale is generally only a reasonably short walk away. Moreover, Willowdale is a good place in which to go out to eat. With respect to education, families will welcome the proximity to both primary and secondary schools, which are within walking distance from most homes for sale in this part of Waterloo. Apart from public schools, there are private primary and high schools. On the other hand, it can be difficult to reach daycares on foot.
