This township is very car friendly. Accessing a place to park is easy. Walking is not very practical for house buyers in Athens as very few daily errands can be run without a vehicle. Moving around by bicycle is also challenging in this township as the cycling infrastructure is quite bad, and the area is not particularly flat.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Athens is an important part of its character. Around one third of properties in this township were constructed pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the units in the township are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented.

Shopping for one's groceries very often requires the use of a car in Athens. Nevertheless, pharmacies are typically very easy to get to as a pedestrian and provide some basic food items. Residents of Athens are served by a few restaurants as well. When it comes to education, it is a very short distance to reach both primary and secondary schools from most homes for sale in Athens. However, it can be very difficult to access daycares as a pedestrian.
