Brookvale offers a slower-paced ambience. Brookvale is very quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic. It is very hard to get to green spaces from most locations in the community since they aren't well-situated. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to visit.
Transportation
Driving is an excellent mode of transportation in Brookvale. It is very easy to access a place to park. Many of the houses for sale in this part of Halifax are located in places that are not very conducive to those who like to travel on foot because carrying out daily needs is very inconvenient without a vehicle. Brookvale is also not very amenable to biking since the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive, and the area is not particularly flat.
Housing
The homes in this community are quite old, since around one third of its dwellings were constructed prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. The substantial percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Nearly 95% of the units in the community are occupied by homeowners and 5% are occupied by renters. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
Services
Shopping for one's groceries very often necessitates the use of a vehicle in this area. As far as education is concerned, there are only a very small number of high schools in this part of Halifax and thus they can be a very long trip away. Additionally, this area does not contain any primary schools. Additionally, daycares are not abundant and thus not always within walking distance.
