The character of Capilano is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to visit and they are very well-spread out, which results in them being very easy to access from most locations within the neighbourhood. This part of the municipality is also quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around Trans-Canada Highway.


Capilano is an extraordinarily convenient part of District of North Vancouver for getting around by car. It is very easy to access a parking spot, and most real estate listings are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. However, this area is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. Capilano is not very bike-friendly because the bicycling infrastructure is rather limited, and bike riders encounter a significant amount of elevation changes. Walking is also not especially practical for property owners in Capilano because meeting daily needs is occasionally difficult on foot.


In Capilano, many buildings are single detached homes, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. This part of the municipality offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 85% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. Around 45% of homes in this part of the municipality were built before the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s.


It is a rather short walk to access daycares and primary schools from most properties for sale in Capilano. On the other hand, this part of District of North Vancouver does not contain any high schools. Regarding eating, a supermarket is ordinarily accessible within a reasonably short walk from anywhere in Capilano. There are also a limited number of choices for those who appreciate nearby restaurants.
