Transportation

Castlegar is a very good city for travelling by car. It is very easy to come across a place to park. In contrast, Castlegar is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the city is connected by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally around the corner. Biking is difficult in Castlegar as the bicycling network is fairly poor, and there is a considerable amount of elevation changes. A majority of the homes for sale in this city are located in areas that are also not very suitable for those who like to travel as pedestrians since most day-to-day needs are challenging to carry out without the use of a car.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 70% of dwellings in Castlegar, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Around 40% of properties in this part of Central Kootenay were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1990s.
