The character of Caulfeild is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Parks are very well-situated and there are about 30 of them nearby for residents to check out, making it easy to get to them. This area is also quiet, as the streets tend to be reasonably tranquil - however some parts can be quite loud, especially around Trans-Canada Highway or the railway line.


Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in Caulfeild. Most real estate listings are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is very convenient to find a parking spot. On the other hand, Caulfeild is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most residences. This area is not very conducive to those who travel by foot since many daily needs are very impractical to carry out on foot. Caulfeild is also not very appropriate for biking as the cycling network is not very well-developed, and bicycle riders are faced with quite a few slopes.


Around one third of properties in Caulfeild were built between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood and 10% are occupied by renters. Although this neighbourhood is notable for those looking for four or more bedroom homes.


Primary schools are convenient to get to on foot from most homes for sale in this area. However, high schools are not particularly plentiful and therefore not always within walking distance. Regarding food, a fraction of property owners in Caulfeild may be able to shop for groceries on foot, while others will have to rely on another means of transportation. There are also a few choices for those who value nearby restaurants and cafes.
