This parish is very car friendly. It is very convenient to park. This parish is not very bicycling-friendly because the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive. Thankfully, there are a limited number of hills. It is also very challenging for people walking to move around in Chatham because running common errands is very difficult without a car.

Single detached homes and row houses are the predominant housing type in Chatham. About 30% of properties in this parish were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This parish also has a selection of housing sizes; there is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this part of Northumberland County. There are no high schools and no primary schools in Chatham. Additionally, parents and their children may find it very difficult to get to daycares as pedestrians. With respect to eating, a car is almost always needed in Chatham to reach the nearest grocery store.
