Coquitlam real estate guide & listings for sale

The character of Coquitlam is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Most areas in this city are reasonably quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - however noise can be bothersome near one of the railway lines or Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, there are over 250 parks close by for residents to explore, making it very easy to get to them from most locations within Coquitlam.

Transportation

Coquitlam is very car friendly. Parking is quite easy. However, commuting by public transit is at times difficult in this city. Nevertheless, homeowners are served by the Burquitlam Station, Lincoln Station and Coquitlam Central Station on the West Coast Express Line and Millenium Line. There are many rapid transit stations on the Millenium Line. There are approximately 30 bus lines crossing the city, and it is very easy to find a nearby bus stop from most residences. Despite the fact that there are a good number of bike lanes, moving around by bicycle is challenging in this city because cyclists encounter a significant amount of hills. It is also impractical for people walking to move around in Coquitlam since carrying out daily needs is inconvenient by walking.

Housing

In Coquitlam, roughly 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, but large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About one quarter of homes in this city were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s. This part of the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area also has a good selection of housing sizes; houses range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 70% of the population of this city own their home whereas renters make up the remainder.

Services

Daycares and primary schools are convenient to get to on foot from anywhere in Coquitlam. In contrast, high schools are not very numerous and therefore not always within walking distance. Parents can choose between public and private schools at both the primary and high school level. As far as food is concerned, it is often possible for home buyers in Coquitlam to buy their groceries by walking. There are also a limited number of options for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes in close proximity.
