Cornerstone is a neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a laid-back atmosphere. As there are very few people out and about on the streets, Cornerstone is relatively calm. Parks are occasionally difficult to reach since they aren't well-located. Still, there are approximately 30 parks nearby for residents to visit.
Transportation
Cars are an excellent means of transportation in Cornerstone. Nearby highways are especially easy to reach from any home in Cornerstone, and it is very convenient to park. In contrast, the transit infrastructure in this part of Calgary is not very convenient. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is connected by about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties. Even though there are a limited number of slopes, Cornerstone is not very cycling-friendly since the cycling infrastructure is quite bad. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for people who get around on foot because meeting daily needs is inconvenient without the use of a car.
Housing
The large proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Cornerstone is an important part of its character. This neighbourhood experienced its largest construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available housing stock is from this era. This part of Calgary is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented.
Services
A car is commonly needed in Cornerstone to reach the nearest grocery store. There are a limited number of opportunities for those who care about nearby restaurants. With regards to education, it is a reasonably short trip to get to daycares from most homes for sale in Cornerstone. On the other hand, Cornerstone does not contain any primary schools or high schools.
