There is a wide variety of green spaces in Deer Ridge. Parks are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them close by for residents to discover, which makes it easy to get to them. Finally, this area is a wonderful neighbourhood for those who don't mind a bit of noise, as during busier hours of the day, traffic can occasionally be loud.

Transportation

Deer Ridge is especially car friendly. It is very convenient to park, and most real estate listings are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. However, the transit network in Deer Ridge is not very accessible. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines. Deer Ridge is not very amenable to biking because there are very few bike lanes, and riding is made arduous by the often hilly terrain. It is also very inconvenient for people walking to get around in this neighbourhood as running common errands is difficult without a vehicle.

Housing

Around 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 15% are occupied by renters. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly 40% of dwellings in this part of the municipality, and the remaining houses are mainly large apartment buildings. Around 40% of properties in this area were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.

Services

Parents and their schoolchildren will welcome that no matter where their house is situated in Deer Ridge, both primary and secondary schools are close by. However, daycares are not very plentiful and accordingly not always within a short distance. As far as eating is concerned, home buyers in Deer Ridge generally have to turn to a car to shop for groceries.
