The character of Devon is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Devon is very quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Most locations in the community have fairly good access to green spaces, including Dollar Lake Provincial Park and Clattenburgh Brook Wilderness Area, since they aren't well-spread out. Still, there are a few parks close by for residents to relax in.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent transportation option in this part of the municipality. Accessing a parking spot is generally easy. Devon is not very bicycling-friendly as there are a fair number of hills, and the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive. Getting around by walking is also not very convenient for property owners in this area since meeting daily needs is nearly impossible without a vehicle.

Housing

The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Devon is an important part of its character. About one third of homes in this community were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. Devon does not have any high schools or primary schools. Moreover, families may consider it very difficult to access daycares by walking. In terms of eating, property owners in Devon almost always have to use a car to buy their groceries.
