Doncrest is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm environment. Green spaces are especially well-distributed and there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy, which results in them being easy to access from a large number of locations within this area. This neighbourhood is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Transportation

It is easy for people travelling on foot to move around in Doncrest, although common amenities such as hardware stores or hair salons can be an occasionally long walk away. On the other hand, cycling is at times difficult in this neighbourhood because there are a good number of hills to challenge cyclists. Nonetheless, this area features a good bicycling infrastructure. Getting around by car is very convenient in this area. Many properties for sale are a rather short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 407, and accessing a parking spot is generally easy. However, Doncrest is not an especially pleasant part of Richmond Hill for moving around by public transit. Nonetheless, there are approximately 10 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the majority of buildings in Doncrest, and the rest are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. Roughly 45% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1980s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1990s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood has a good selection of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the units in Doncrest while the rest are rented.

Services

Families will welcome the proximity to primary schools, which are within walking distance from vast majority homes for sale in Doncrest. However, there are no high schools in this area. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools. Concerning eating, home buyers in Doncrest will be pleased to learn that a grocery store is always only a reasonably short walk away. Additionally, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and residents benefit from a few cafes as well.
