Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy East End. Most areas in East End are quiet, as the streets are usually reasonably peaceful - however noise can be an issue closer to the railway line.

Transportation

The preferred transportation option in East End is often driving. It is especially convenient to park. In contrast, residents using public transit may have limited options in this part of the city due to the low service level. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. East End will appeal to physically active people since it is moderately suitable for bicycling. For instance, there are not many elevation changes to challenge cyclists. East End is not very suitable for those who prefer to travel as pedestrians since few daily errands can be run without needing a car.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing roughly three quarters of buildings in East End, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. A majority of the housing growth in this part of Thunder Bay happened prior to the 1960s. This part of the city also has a good selection of unit sizes - it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented.

Services

In this part of the city, parents and their children will generally be able to access primary schools and daycares by walking. On the other hand, East End does not contain any high schools. With regards to food, home buyers in East End will be pleased to learn that a grocery store is always only a long stroll away. Additionally, this area is a fairly good place in which to eat out, and residents are served by a few cafes as well. It is also easy to access a selection of clothing stores without the need for a car.
