Fort Erie North is fairly good for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially around the railway line or Queen Elizabeth Way.
The best approach to move around in Fort Erie North is very often driving. It is very easy to park, and most properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway, such as Queen Elizabeth Way. However, getting around by transit can be very hard in this part of the town due to the service's low frequency. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines, and most properties are close to a bus stop. A majority of the houses for sale in this area are located in places that are not very convenient for those who travel by foot as very few daily errands can be run without needing to use a car.
In Fort Erie North, most buildings are single detached homes, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. Most homes in this area were built pre-1960, during its biggest building boom. This neighbourhood has a good choice of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented.
Some, but not all, house buyers in this part of the town will live within walking distance of the closest grocery store. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes in close proximity. Regarding education, high schools and primary schools are not particularly abundant in this neighbourhood, and thus not always within walking distance. In addition, it can be challenging to access daycares on foot.
