Galetta is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some parts can be quite loud, especially around one of the railway lines or Highway 417. Parks aren't well-distributed, which makes them very hard to get to. Despite that, there are a few green spaces close by for residents to visit.
Galetta is very car friendly. It is very easy to access a parking spot. Walking is not very feasible for residents in this part of the city since almost no common errands can be run without the use of a car. Galetta is also not very cycling-friendly because the bicycling network is quite poor, and the topography is not especially flat.
About one third of properties in Galetta were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing almost all dwellings in this part of the city, while mobile homes are also present in the housing stock. Homeowners occupy nearly 90% of the units in Galetta and the rest are rented. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
There are no high schools and no primary schools in Galetta. Likewise, families may find it very hard for their children to reach daycares on foot. Regarding food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed to buy groceries.
