Grandview-Woodland has a character that caters to a fairly diverse group of people. Finding things to do is easy in this area. Despite the fact that few entertainment venues can be found nearby, there are lots of people around most of the time, and places to go out at night are well-spread throughout the neighbourhood. Commercial Drive is among the most lively streets in this part of Vancouver. Grandview-Woodland is quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic, although that is not the case closer to one of the railway lines. Many buildings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Grandview-Woodland, while duplexes are the main alternative in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home and owners make up the remainder. Around one third of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s.


Parents and their kids will value that no matter where their home is located in Grandview-Woodland, schools and daycares are close by. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools. Regarding eating, property owners in Grandview-Woodland will value that a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short walk away. Likewise, thanks to 200-odd restaurants and cafes in Grandview-Woodland, there is typically a place to get some food or drink just around the corner.
