Transportation

The preferred mode of transportation in Halpern is very often driving. Nearby highways, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc, are particularly easy to reach from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and parking is quite easy. In contrast, the transit service in this part of Montréal is sometimes poor. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by approximately 10 bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. Travelling by bicycle is occasionally difficult in Halpern because the cycling network is not very extensive. Nonetheless, bicycling is more practical in some pockets than others, and it is a flat ride to most destinations. Walking is also not very convenient for home buyers in this part of the city since running common errands is difficult without the use of a vehicle.

Housing

In Halpern, about 40% of buildings are single detached homes, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly townhouses. About one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. As far as education is concerned, in Halpern, families will generally be able to access daycares by walking. However, there are no primary schools and no high schools in Halpern.
