Markham real estate guide & listings for sale

Markham offers a relaxed environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are over 150 parks close by for residents to discover, which makes it easy to reach them. This city is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some parts can be quite loud, especially closer to Highway 404, Highway 407, one of the railway lines or the airport (YKZ).

Transportation

The car is very often the best way to navigate Markham. It is very easy to park, and it is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 404, from anywhere in this part of the Greater Toronto metropolitan area. On the other hand, this city is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, house owners benefit from the Markham Station, Centennial Station and Mount Joy Station with access to the Stouffville Line. Residents are served by over 50 bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. It is sometimes challenging for people walking to get around in this part of the Greater Toronto metropolitan area because few common errands can be run on foot. Markham is also not very conducive to biking as there is a considerable amount of slopes, and the cycling infrastructure is fairly poor.

Housing

Most dwellings are single detached homes, making it easy to find detached homes in Markham, but large apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This city offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 85% of the population of this city own their home whereas the rest are renters. Roughly 45% of properties in this city were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are easy to walk to from any location in this part of the Greater Toronto metropolitan area. Apart from public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools. On the other hand, parents and their children may consider it difficult to get to daycares as a pedestrian. With regards to eating, some, but not all, house buyers in Markham will reside within walking distance of one of over 150 supermarkets. There are also a limited number of options for those who care about restaurants and cafes in close proximity.
