McAdam is a wonderful parish to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed ambience. McAdam is very quiet overall, as the streets are very tranquil.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in McAdam. It is very easy to park. A majority of the houses for sale in this parish are located in places that are not very conducive to pedestrians as almost no common errands can be run without needing a vehicle. McAdam is also not very cycling-friendly as there is a significant amount of slopes, and McAdam has quite poor bicycling infrastructure. Nevertheless, a few pleasant areas for bicycling exist.

Housing

The substantial percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of McAdam is an important part of its character. About 45% of homes in this parish were built pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s. This part of York County offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly all of the units in the parish are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented.

Services

There are only a very small number of high schools in McAdam and thus they can be a very long trip away. Likewise, this parish does not contain any primary schools. In addition, there are only a very small number of daycares and consequently they can be a very long walk away. Concerning eating, it is rarely feasible for house buyers in this parish to do their grocery shopping without needing to get in a car.
