The character of Mountainview is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Green spaces are especially well-located and there are a few of them nearby for residents to unwind in, which makes it easy to get to them. This part of Burlington is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially near Highway 407, Highway 403 or the railway line.


Cars are an excellent transportation option in Mountainview. Nearby highways, such as Highway 407, are very easy to drive to from anywhere in this part of the city, and it is very convenient to find a place to park. On the other hand, Mountainview is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is usually just around the corner. Most houses for sale in this area are located in places that are not especially suitable for walking because few daily errands can be run without the use of a car. On the other hand, bicycling is easy in Mountainview since there are a good number of bike lanes.


Most homes in Mountainview were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, during its largest building boom. In this part of the city, the majority of buildings are single detached homes, but townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the properties in Mountainview while the rest are rented. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.


It is a rather short walk to get to primary schools as well as high schools from most homes for sale in Mountainview. Parents have the choice between public and private secondary schools. In contrast, daycares are not especially abundant and therefore tend to require an extended walk to get to. In terms of eating, it is typically practical for house buyers in Mountainview to do grocery shopping by walking. Moreover, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, for example on Mountain Grove Avenue, and residents are served by a few cafes as well. A decent variety of clothing stores is also situated within a rather short walking distance.
