This part of Ottawa is quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially near Highway 416 or the airport (Rideau Valley Air Park). Lastly, access to parks from numerous locations in the neighbourhood, like W.A. Taylor Conservation Area and Besley Woods, is easy, since there are about 40 of them nearby for residents to discover and reaching a park is very easy from most properties.

Transportation

The car is usually the favoured method of transportation in North Gower. It is very convenient to find a parking spot. In contrast, the transit network in this part of Ottawa is not very convenient. Thankfully, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are usually around the corner. It is challenging to commute by bike in North Gower since the bicycling infrastructure is quite poor, and there are a fair number of elevation changes. It is also very difficult for pedestrians to get around in this area as most daily needs are very inconvenient to meet without a car.

In North Gower, the overwhelming majority of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This part of Ottawa offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters. About 30% of properties in this part of the city were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s.

Services

In all cases, a car is needed to shop for groceries. Residents of this part of Ottawa benefit from a few restaurants as well. As far as education is concerned, there are no primary schools in North Gower. Moreover, daycares are not very numerous and accordingly not always within a short distance.
