People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy North Portal. North Portal is wonderful for those who like quiet areas, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Transportation

Travelling by car is very easy in this village. It is very easy to park, and many houses for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway. This village is not very suitable for people who like to travel as pedestrians as meeting daily needs is very challenging without a vehicle. The bicycle is a rather limited mode of transportation in this village since the cycling network is quite poor. Nevertheless, there are not many elevation changes to confront cyclists.

Housing

In North Portal, most buildings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly mobile homes. About one third of properties in this village were built pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of Division No. 1 is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly three quarters of the population of this village own their home while renters make up the remainder.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required to do groceries. Regarding education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in North Portal. Moreover, families may find it very hard to get to daycares as pedestrians.
